Dr. Saad Hassanin delivers the Friday sermon at Jamia Mosque Nairobi, emphasizing the importance of seeking Islamic knowledge and avoiding ignorance about one’s faith.

Muslims attending the Friday sermon at Jamia Mosque Nairobi were reminded of the critical importance of seeking knowledge and understanding the fundamental teachings of Islam. Delivering the Friday Khutbah, Dr. Saad Hassanin emphasized that ignorance of essential Islamic principles weakens faith and leads to moral and social decay within the Muslim community.

Dr. Saad Hassanin makes a point during his Friday sermon at Jamia Mosque Nairobi, reminding Muslims that seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every believer.

Dr. Hassanin explained that every Muslim man or woman, young or old  has a duty to learn what is necessary to practice their religion correctly. He quoted the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”

“A Muslim must not be ignorant of what defines his or her faith,” Dr. Hassanin said. “We must know Allah, His Messenger, the pillars of Islam, and the basic rulings that govern our daily lives  in prayer, business, family, and conduct with others.”

He warned that ignorance often leads believers to commit mistakes in worship, transactions, and social dealings. Such errors, he said, can only be corrected through continuous learning and guidance from scholars and authentic sources of Islamic knowledge.

Dr. Hassanin urged Muslims to make use of mosques, Islamic institutions, and modern platforms that provide access to verified Islamic teachings.
